I love to over dye fabric, even Moda

I love to over dye fabric....nothing is safe from me around here when I have the dye pot going. I had some squares left over from the Snowman Gatherings charm pack. The background was too white for me...the fabric in the middle. So I grabbed the whole stack and threw it into a dark antique champagne color I was using....and I love how antique they now look. Perfect for a couple sewing necessaries to give as gifts.  Even the blues on the top took on a nice antique look. Some times the dye effect I want is subtle and sometimes drastic as above.
I just thought I would share that tid bit with you.....I need to get back to a Christmas pattern I am stitching (a door hanging with jingle bells). I made a few changes....good thing I was not stitching that part.....and will show it after Halloween when the chart will be ready. Sounds like another give-away coming up. Stay tuned.

Free floss equal to your postage

I had another customer ask me to run the "free floss equal to your postage" on the 1795 Sampler Floss Collection. I am always happy to help out and this is a great buy. My floss is 1/4 the price of other companies. This collection would run over $600!
If you purchase the Complete 1795 Sampler Floss Collection of 80 (20 yards ea) skeins, 1600 yards, $156.00, DIRECT FROM ME and not on ebay, I will send extra floss equal to the postage you pay. If you are in the states I mail priority mail so you would receive and extra $6-8 in free floss (3-4 skeins, 60-80 yards). If you are in the UK, Netherlands or Germany, your postage is $16.74 and you would receive an extra 8 skeins, 160 yards! The free floss is from some special colors I dyed for this  offer.
I am always happy to fill requests when I can. This is a tough economy to say the least and every little bit helps. The extra floss would make nice gifts to your friends.
Thank you for stopping by......have a great day!

Sewing Necessaire Give-away with Williamsburg Sampler Fabric

I got my camera working again.....and snapped a few photos of the Sewing Necessaire I made using Windham Fabrics, The Williamsburg Sampler Collection....THE PATTERN IS PRINTED ON THE FABRIC, THIS IS NOT STITCHED, it is the alphabet sampler and I have always loved this fabric. The background was light cream so I over dyed it to look antique. To make these have great body I use fusible fleece to back the fabrics. I love that stuff! I used a Moda fabric for the inner lining and I also dyed the cotton twill for the ties in a nice shade antique shade to match. The backgrounbd is a little darker than what it looks like in this photo. It comes with a felted wool button and charm bag (with the adorable coilless safety pin closure) and wood buttons and charms shown. I love the stork scissors charms. Wool felt for pins along with the large antique flower pin, a skein of my Blue with tan floss, 2 yards of hand dyed ric rac and two yards of cluny trim. A little mother of pearl heart is the divider on one of the pockets that I sewed on. I will be listing these in my ebay store later this week. I just did this one yesterday so I will now make more. They are $24.99 complete as shown. You can order now, I am looking for a source for more of this fabric in other colors as it is an archived fabric. I have a couple yards that I over dyed and that will make quite a few of these. The first picture shows the before and after the dye pot. My other photos are a bit lighter than they look.

Lets give a couple away! If you like blue...or if you have a friend that you would like to gift this to....this one is for you. These make great gifts.

With deepest sympathy at the loss of a friend

I know we are all at a loss with the passing of Cathey. A brave soul who fought long and hard and is now at peace. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends at this sad time. We will all miss her very much. Life is short and too short for some.

The Sewing Necessaire Present and giveaway! Enter Now!

I have been very busy once again. I have wanted to do a special Sewing Necessaire....a layered present! Three layers of goodies and wrapped with a ribbon bow. The best part? It is already MADE for me. Yes, everything is done. The fabrics were backed with fusible fleece to give it a soft and padded sturdy base. Completely sewn including the floss rings, wool needle pages and my own little hand dyed wool button bag! I found the cutest safety pin with a rounded end...look so cute. Then I added a couple pieces of hand dyed wool for you and pinned them together with a huge antique bronze flower safety pin. Ric rac, buttons, brass sewing charms and some lace! 4" tall, 4" square. Each layer is 4" x 13". Tied with hand dyed cotton twill ribbon.
I looked at kits on the internet....some higher than $50 for a single item and then you have to put it together. This 3 layer present is priced at $49 until Christmas and then may go up $10. I will also be selling the individual layers as single Sewing Necessaires and those will be completed too. Those will be $24 each. The three layered present is a very good buy. I used mostly Moda fabrics, hand dyed wool, and high quality wool felt. My own hand dyed trims and buttons. Mother of pearl floss rings. 20 yards of floss with each set.

I have these two styles completed, several of each (I am working on an assembly line of 100 of these....that's 300 layers!)

I am also working on blue and tan prints, black and tan, beige/brown, etc. I will show more as I have them completed. Every time I get busy on these I have to stop and put together ebay orders.

I thought these would make very nice Christmas presents for a stitching friend...or to pamper yourself with some goodies.

So lets get to the give-away!! I thought I would start the quickly approaching holiday season with a little gift giving. So lets give a couple SINGLE layers away first. I will draw two names. Then I thought I would give away one of the layered presents.
I want to spread the word so a lot of people get a chance to win.
Rules: You must be a follower and you must post a comment here. Post on your blog and get 20 more entries, yes 20. You should see me pulling my hair out on the day of the drawings!
Drawing to be Oct 21st on this give-away.
I will be posting more pictures and give-aways over the next few weeks so we can get a lot of presents out before Christmas.

Thanks for stopping by......I love my faithful followers!
